Takeru Amano
Takeru Amano reinterprets classical imagery through Japanese pop art. His Venus is defined by a clear outline and expressive eyes. ArtComburo presents Sleepy Venus, a sculpture with an illuminated pillow created with Flexx Lex.
More about Takeru Amano
Classical imagery in contemporary pop art
Born in Tokyo in 1977, Takeru Amano works across painting, drawing, sculpture and design. Classical and mythological subjects meet Japanese popular culture in simplified forms, flat colours and a playful sense of humour.
His father is the artist Yoshitaka Amano, but Takeru developed a distinct visual language of his own. From 1997 to 2000 he lived in New York, studying sculpture and printmaking.
Venus and exhibitions
Venus is a recurring figure in Amano’s work. Her cartoon-like form and characteristic gaze carry a classical subject into contemporary life. The character moves between canvas and sculpture without losing the artist’s graphic clarity.
His official biography lists exhibitions in Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong, including the Icônes series. Working in different media allows him to explore the same image through colour, silhouette and volume.
Sleepy Venus at ArtComburo
Created in collaboration with Flexx Lex, Sleepy Venus combines a resting figure with a light-up pillow. The character is the focus by day, while soft illumination changes the mood in the evening.
When choosing a place for the work, consider the whole composition, including the pillow. Dimensions, materials, edition details and availability are listed on the product page. Explore other light sculptures and collectible gifts in Exclusive Art Toys.
