More about Arkiv Vilmansa
A practice built around characters
Arkiv Vilmansa is an Indonesian artist associated with Bandung. Cartoons, comics, toys and personal memories contribute to his own character world. He works in both two and three dimensions: a recognisable motif can move between a canvas, a paper edition and a sculptural object, changing its presence with each format.
Rounded forms and clear outlines
Soft silhouettes meet distinct graphic edges in Arkiv’s work. Enlarged ears, hands and heads establish a character without relying on realistic portraiture. Saturated grounds or flowing bands of colour emphasise posture and gesture. An apparently childlike figure can suggest concentration, drowsiness or inner tension while leaving the reading open to the viewer.
Prints and objects at ArtComburo
ASTUROBOY brings the colour-led contour into serigraphy. In Your Arms Again — Black and In My Dreams Again — Red show how a background colour changes the impression of a related character world. They can be viewed independently or compared as part of a collection. A print and an art toy remain different objects: technique, dimensions and release format belong to the individual product page.
