More about Wisut Ponnimit
Manga, animation and music
Wisut Ponnimit was born in Bangkok and began publishing manga in Thailand in 1998. Time spent living in Kobe, Japan, became part of his creative path. His projects include hesheit, Blanco and Mamuang. His practice extends beyond drawing into animation and music, approaching rhythm and mood through different forms.
Simple images and attentive looking
Soft outlines and rounded figures make an image approachable at first sight. Yet a small gesture can change the whole scene: a face resting in hands, a cat with closed eyes or flowers beside gathered knees. A recognisable human feeling takes the place of an elaborate plot. A pause, closeness and the ability to notice an ordinary pleasure become important to the encounter.
Prints and characters at ArtComburo
ITS YOU ON MY HEAD turns the presence of a cat into a literal gesture of closeness. ADDICT TO NATURAL SWEETNESS brings a girl, cats and flowers into a quiet circle of colour. Paper works can be compared with the artist’s sculptural characters while preserving the distinctions between materials and formats. Paper, presentation and release specifications are recorded on each product page.
