HOLIDAY HANGZHOU Incense Holder

HOLIDAY HANGZHOU Incense Holder is a bronze incense holder in the form of robot COMPANION. The character lies on its back, one arm raised towards the chest and the other alongside its body. An opening for an incense stick is integrated into the composition. KAWS combines a collectible sculptural image with a functional object: it can be viewed as an independent artwork even without incense.

KAWS:HOLIDAY beside West Lake

In September 2026, KAWS and AllRightsReserved presented HOLIDAY HANGZHOU beside West Lake in Hangzhou, China. With local partner WESTLAKE 66, they placed a 30-metre reclining robot COMPANION at the site. The project marked the Mid-Autumn Festival: the character’s upward gaze echoed the tradition of moon viewing. The lake’s classical landscape became the backdrop for a new futuristic figure.

Features of the edition

The bronze figure echoes the horizontal mood of the large installation. Its metal surface emphasises the body’s relief, while the reclining pose gives it an intimate scale. Photographs show it on its own and with a wooden box bearing COMPANION’s image. The incense stick in the photograph demonstrates use; the manufacturer explicitly states that sticks are not included. If using the object for incense, allow space for the stick and ash and follow the chosen incense manufacturer’s recommendations.

For a collection or a gift

HOLIDAY HANGZHOU Incense Holder can join a contemporary-art collection or be a gift for someone interested in designer objects and KAWS’s characters. The series is notable for the change in COMPANION’s appearance: familiar features combine with a mechanical structure, while the Hangzhou story adds a specific cultural context. Explore different views before placing it. Room around the object helps reveal the silhouette, surface and details that can disappear among other items.
