HOLIDAY INDONESIA Black

HOLIDAY INDONESIA Black is a vinyl KAWS art toy featuring ACCOMPLICE. It lies on its back with knees raised and hands covering its face. Long ears extend the horizontal silhouette. The gesture can be read as a wish to shut out the world or simply take a break: the work leaves room for a personal interpretation.

The KAWS:HOLIDAY installation in Indonesia

The edition is connected to the tenth stop of the international KAWS:HOLIDAY project. From 19 to 31 August 2023, a 45-metre ACCOMPLICE was displayed beside the Prambanan temple complex near Yogyakarta. The project was organised with AllRightsReserved and support from AKG Entertainment. Against the ancient temples, the reclining character created an unexpected dialogue between historical architecture and contemporary art. The collectible repeats its pose but has its own intimate scale.

ACCOMPLICE and the Black colour

The black version is built around an entirely dark silhouette. Hands, ears and legs emerge through volume and light on the surface; the crosses on the gloves remain a restrained detail. Different views reward attention: from above, the hands’ gesture is visible; from the side, the body’s curve and raised knees become clear. On a light shelf, Black creates a strong graphic accent.

For a collection or a gift

HOLIDAY INDONESIA Black can join a contemporary-art collection centred on KAWS’s characters or different stops of the HOLIDAY tour. As a gift, it suits someone interested in designer toys and expressive sculptural forms. The Prambanan story provides context: this is an object connected to a specific public art project rather than simply a decorative figure. Leave room around it when placing it so that the long ears and horizontal pose remain visible.
