Pillow

Pillow is a lamp sculpture by Japanese artist TIDE. A cat embraces an illuminated pillow: a simple domestic scene acquires volume and becomes an independent collectible work.

Pillow: a domestic scene in TIDE’s visual language

The cat character recurs in the artist’s paintings and sculptures. Through it, TIDE explores closeness, everyday gestures and inner experience. Pillow focuses on an embrace and a cushion, images readily associated with rest and personal space.

Light is integral to the subject: it comes from the object the character holds. The work therefore remains coherent both in daylight and in the evening.
