TOKYO FIRST Chum Clear Keychain

TOKYO FIRST Chum Clear Keychain is a collectible KAWS keyholder from the commemorative series for TOKYO FIRST. A metal fitting allows the miniature to be used on keys or a bag. Transparent CHUM with a rounded segmented body. A KAWS TOKYO FIRST keyholder in which form becomes the main focus.

Character and form

CHUM has a rounded body divided into horizontal volumes. The clear version changes with lighting and background: light passes through the figure, while its outline emerges at the edges. X eyes and the characteristic head link it to KAWS’s other characters.

The connection to KAWS TOKYO FIRST

KAWS TOKYO FIRST ran at Mori Arts Center Gallery in Tokyo from 16 July to 11 October 2021. MEDICOM TOY released commemorative keyholders presented in the exhibition shop. COMPANION, ACCOMPLICE and CHUM offered a choice of characters in miniature form.

An exhibition object in an everyday format

The keyholder preserves not only the event’s name but also a specific character. It can travel with you or sit among small collectibles. Each character has different proportions: ACCOMPLICE’s long ears, CHUM’s segments and COMPANION’s gloves allow comparisons of the artist’s sculptural language.
