UNIQLO UT White Pink Print

UNIQLO UT White Pink Print is a T-shirt from the KAWS and UNIQLO collaboration. The artist’s graphics move into everyday clothing, keeping familiar characters recognisable beyond the gallery. Pink BFF in a relaxed pose on a white KAWS × UNIQLO T-shirt. Contrasting colours emphasise the recognisable character.

Character and print

Pink BFF reclines, leaning on one arm. The character’s furry outline, large X eyes and elongated pose read clearly against the white background. The horizontal composition distinguishes this print from the rectangular marine scene and the vertical COMPANION image.

The KAWS × UNIQLO collaboration

The 2023 collection accompanied a KAWS artbook published by Phaidon. UNIQLO presented T-shirts and sweatshirts featuring the artist’s characters. This is a separate release from TOKYO FIRST clothing and the Sesame Street collaboration.

Art to wear

The subject, background colour and scale of the image matter in this garment. The print can be examined as a graphic composition in its own right, but remains part of clothing: it works with the garment’s silhouette and proportions. It brings a familiar KAWS character into a wardrobe without elaborate decorative combinations. The photographs show the specific colour version in our catalogue.
