About Maneki Neko Koban Senmanryo Black
Maneki Neko Koban Senmanryo Black is a MEDICOM TOY BE@RBRICK 1000% in a translucent black treatment. Gold-coloured coins and inscriptions combine the beckoning-cat image with prosperity motifs. The dark body contrasts with the decorative elements and reveals part of the interior design. MEDICOM TOY announced this black translucent version for April 2024 at its Tokyo Solamachi store.
Participants and concept
Koban denotes a traditional Japanese coin, so the name explains a decorative element rather than simply selecting a colour. Maneki-neko develops a familiar cultural image. MEDICOM TOY translates it into its own format, with the translucent body adding a view of interior elements to the familiar external ornament.
