About Space Invaders
Space Invaders brings TAITO’s arcade imagery to a MEDICOM TOY BE@RBRICK 1000%. Small pixel aliens repeat across the surface, preserving the square-edged graphic language of the original game screen. The pattern remains legible as it moves over rounded volumes. MEDICOM TOY announced the edition for September 2021. The game’s original date should not be confused with the release year of this collectible.
Participants and concept
TAITO created Space Invaders, designed by Tomohiro Nishikado. Its contribution to visual culture matters here: simple pixel figures remain recognisable without a complete screen or moving animation. MEDICOM TOY uses that imagery as ornament, turning the shared memory of arcade games into a static design object rather than a playable device.
