About H. R. Giger White Chrome
BE@RBRICK H. R. Giger White Chrome carries dense black graphics over a pale chrome ground. Tubular contours, ribs and repeated details blur the boundary between organism and mechanism. The drawing transforms the bear’s surface without changing its basic silhouette.
Swiss artist H. R. Giger described his visual language as biomechanics, combining the human and the mechanical. MEDICOM TOY revisited the design in White Chrome and Black Chrome with a release announced for December 2020. This is a collectible interpretation of his art rather than a unique sculpture personally made by the artist.
White Chrome fits a collection of surreal and science-fiction design. Contrast dominates from a distance; the drawing’s structure appears on closer inspection. Beside minimalist 1st Model, it demonstrates how differently the same reflective ground can be used.
