BE@RBRICK Andy Warhol Elvis Presley carries the singer’s recognisable image across the curved surface of a collectible figure. Repetition matters more than one central portrait: the motif continues across the head, body and limbs. Moving around the figure reveals how flat photographic imagery becomes an all-over three-dimensional pattern.
Andy Warhol made celebrity one of the defining subjects of American Pop Art. His Elvis imagery considers how photographs, cinema and printed media turn a person into an endlessly familiar public image. For this release, MEDICOM TOY brings Warhol’s artistic legacy to the BE@RBRICK platform. This is a production collectible, rather than an original artwork made by Warhol.
The model connects music collecting with Pop Art. It is particularly interesting beside Marilyn Monroe: both explore fame through repeated imagery, but with a different mood and colour rhythm. Displayed with art books, the two figure sizes invite close inspection of the pattern without requiring the space of a large sculpture.
