Concrete changes the mood of MY FIRST B@BY with a grey, concrete-effect surface. Against that restrained exterior, the colourful beads inside the transparent belly become especially noticeable. The name describes a visual motif, not evidence that the figure is made from concrete. Designed by CHIAKI (CIROL & Co.) in collaboration with RESTIR, the set was scheduled by MEDICOM TOY for July 2023. The meeting of a rough-looking pattern and playful transparency defines this particular edition.

Collaboration and design

CHIAKI (CIROL & Co.) created the MY FIRST B@BY series. Its recognisable feature is a transparent belly containing colourful beads. This shifts attention from an entirely printed exterior to the relationship between the outside surface and what can be seen within. Different editions pair that idea with their own palette or pattern. Soft, indirect lighting is useful for displaying the transparent and opaque sections together without allowing strong reflections to obscure the design.
