HOLIDAY SINGAPORE Brown

HOLIDAY SINGAPORE Brown is a collectible KAWS art toy featuring COMPANION lying on its back with a smaller version of itself on its chest. One leg is bent, the hands support the smaller figure, and X eyes remain a recognisable detail. More than form and colour matter here: the relationship between the characters creates a calm, intimate scene. It can be read as an image of security, rest or time with those close to us.

The KAWS:HOLIDAY installation in Singapore

In November 2021, the seventh stop of KAWS:HOLIDAY took place at The Float @ Marina Bay in Singapore. A 42-metre inflatable COMPANION sculpture reclined while embracing a smaller character. AllRightsReserved organised the project with support from the Singapore Tourism Board. The sculpture stood on the floating platform, with the skyline and open sky as its backdrop.

The idea and the collectible edition

The installation’s scale turned a familiar gesture of care into a public image encountered within the city. The 2021 collectible repeats both characters’ pose in vinyl. Brown, Grey and Black offer different colour interpretations of the same composition. On a home shelf, attention shifts from the object’s size to its details: palms, the tilted head, the small figure between the hands and the calm line of the body.

The Brown version

Brown combines a brown body with a pale head, white gloves and muted green-grey details. The contrast brings out the hands holding the smaller character. The warm palette supports the composition’s domestic mood. From above, the leg positions and the smaller COMPANION on the larger one’s chest are clear; a side view emphasises the horizontal pose.

For a collection or a gift

HOLIDAY SINGAPORE Brown can join a collection of different KAWS:HOLIDAY stops or become a standalone contemporary-art object in an interior. It can be a gift for someone interested in KAWS and the theme of care. The horizontal pose needs a clear surface where both characters remain visible. Before placing it, explore the side and overhead photographs: they show how the composition changes with the viewpoint.
