I Hate Everyone

I Hate Everyone is a lamp sculpture by Joan Cornellà in vinyl and mixed media. A smiling character in a pink skirt opens her arms wide. The red heart and open pose appear welcoming, but the title gives the gesture its opposite meaning.

The contrast between outward friendliness and the words I Hate Everyone is central to the composition. The artist leaves the scene without an explanatory narrative: viewers decide whether it jokes about social rituals, fatigue with company or a mismatch between words and gestures. The light function offers another way of experiencing the object without changing its sculptural character.
