Sesame Street Elmo

Sesame Street Elmo — Elmo is the red Sesame Street character interpreted in vinyl by KAWS. The figure reclines, leaning on an elbow while the other hand supports the head. Red fur-like texture, orange nose and open smile remain familiar, while white cross-shaped eyes add the artist’s signature.

Who is Elmo?

Elmo is Sesame Street’s friendly, curious red monster, recognisable by his cheerful voice and infectious laugh. He helps young viewers explore the world and talk about feelings. As a collectible object, this familiar character also addresses an adult audience for whom Sesame Street is linked with childhood memories.

The KAWS × Sesame Street collaboration

In 2025, KAWS and AllRightsReserved presented a vinyl collection of Sesame Street characters. It combined familiar images with the artist’s cross-shaped eyes and sculptural gestures. This release continues his work with Sesame Street but differs from UNIQLO’s clothing and plush toys of 2018: here, the characters are made in vinyl.

Features of the composition

KAWS replaces Elmo’s usual activity with a moment of rest. The reclining pose recalls other works in which his characters pause, but here it combines with an open smile. The relief surface conveys the character without real fur: this is a vinyl sculpture. The side photograph clearly shows bent legs, the supporting elbow and the head resting on a palm.

Collecting and gifting

Sesame Street Elmo can join a KAWS collection or be a gift for someone with a personal connection to Sesame Street. Nostalgia combines with a new perspective on a familiar character. Before choosing, examine the different viewpoints: these show pose, texture and proportions more precisely than one front photograph. Leave space around the work on an open shelf so its gesture and details remain visible.
