Garfield 400%

MEGA SPACE MOLLY Garfield 400% is a POP MART art toy combining astronaut MOLLY, created by Kenny Wong, with the orange cat Garfield. The recognisable feline face occupies the helmet visor, while yellow tubes and an orange palette bring the comic’s character into a spacesuit. The manufacturer lists PVC and ABS for this 400% release.

The silhouette retains MEGA SPACE MOLLY’s proportions: a large rounded helmet, substantial gloves and clearly defined spacesuit components. Heavy eyelids, cat ears and a relaxed expression immediately recall Garfield. Two familiar designs interact: the costume and pose belong to MOLLY’s world, while the expression and colours come from the comic character.

Two characters in one design

American cartoonist Jim Davis created Garfield. The newspaper strip debuted on 19 June 1978, with humour built around the cat’s everyday habits and distinctive personality. The figure conveys this character through expression and silhouette rather than depicting a particular comic scene.

MOLLY has a different creator: Hong Kong artist and designer Kenny Wong introduced her in 2006. Large eyes and distinctively pursed lips became the basis of a character later reinterpreted in many costumes. In this release, POP MART brings two visual languages together in a single collectible object, preserving recognisable features of both characters.
