Doodlebob

Doodlebob is a vinyl art toy by Vexx, created with ToyQube under an official Nickelodeon licence. It brings the familiar SpongeBob SquarePants image together with the artist’s colourful doodle world. The edition is limited to 500 copies.

One half retains SpongeBob’s yellow silhouette, large eye, shirt and black shoe. The other becomes a dense sculptural composition with a butterfly, fantastic creatures, a heart, a bag bearing a dollar sign and colourful forms. A red sneaker continues the asymmetry.

These are not merely drawings on a surface: doodles project beyond the figure’s outline as individual sculptural details. The front shows two visual worlds meeting, the side reveals their depth and the rear returns to the familiar sponge silhouette. A top view exposes elements that can be missed from the front.

Vexx’s doodle world

Vexx is a Belgian artist and illustrator working with saturated colours and interwoven cartoon images. Doodlebob brings this graphic language into three dimensions: a familiar character becomes the basis of a new composition to examine from different sides.

The work suits an art-toy collector or can be a gift for a pop-art enthusiast. Leave space around the figure to examine its side details. Explore works by Vexx and Exclusive Art Toys. Compare Sponge Balls by Hello Abiebi for another reinterpretation of a familiar sponge. Find more information on the artist’s official website.
