Takashi Murakami DOBtopus B: the image of Mr. DOB

Takashi Murakami returns to Mr. DOB across different works, changing its shape and personality. The character appeared in 1993 and became part of the artist’s recognisable visual language. In version B, attention centres on a wide-open mouth with an eye inside. A smaller head appears above the main face, while raised tentacles reinforce the fantastic image. Its frontal composition differs from A’s tilted silhouette.

DOBtopus appeared as a ComplexCon character in 2017 at Marc Ecko’s request. BAIT produced the figures under Murakami’s supervision, translating the tentacled design into a collectible object.
