Korin Flower and Water

Korin Flower and Water is a Takashi Murakami print featuring flowers against a golden checkerboard background. The publisher lists the work as Kōrin Flowers and Water. Smiling faces, slender stems and water lines form a circular composition with room for both colour and quiet space.

Flowers, water and a golden background

Flower groups gather in the lower part of the image. An open field remains above them, with wavy lines running along the upper edge. Red, white, yellow and pink petals stand out against the restrained background; greenery connects individual flowers into one composition.

This print rewards viewing both from a distance and close up. From afar, the balance of flowers and open space becomes clear; closer inspection reveals differences in faces and petal patterns. It suits someone who enjoys Murakami’s flowers but seeks a calmer overall composition.
