About MONSTERS Boo Berry

MONSTERS Boo Berry is a vinyl KAWS art toy from his collaboration with General Mills. A blue ghost in a yellow hat and red bow tie. KAWS retains the playful Monster Cereals character and adds cross-shaped eyes. This card presents one character, available to choose individually or combine with other figures in the series.

Who is Boo Berry?

Boo Berry is the ghost associated with General Mills’ blueberry cereal. Introduced in the early 1970s, he became a recognisable Monster Cereals character. In KAWS’s version he remains blue, with his hat and bow tie.

How cereal characters became art toys

In 2022, General Mills invited KAWS to design Monster Cereals packaging. The artist reinterpreted familiar advertising characters through his own visual language. Large vinyl versions appeared in March 2024, with MEDICOM TOY announcing Japanese sales from 23 March. This continues the brand collaboration rather than commemorating a separate KAWS installation: a familiar cereal-box image gained volume and became a collectible object.

The figure’s image and details

Raised white hands and an undulating lower outline make the ghost appear to float. The yellow hat and red bow tie contrast with the blue body; cross-shaped eyes and grey forms at the sides of the head add KAWS’s signature. The silhouette is recognisable even from a distance.

Collecting and gifting

MONSTERS combines contemporary art, design and nostalgia for advertising characters. Boo Berry can sit on an open shelf where the silhouette and colour accents remain visible. The character’s story matters when choosing a gift: it suits someone interested in KAWS, pop culture or unusual collaborations. Beside other characters, viewers can compare how the artist handles different forms while retaining shared recognisable details.
