A collaboration with Trevor Andrew

This interpretation changes the character’s mood through the costume. The spacesuit becomes a surface for graphics, drawing the eye from broad contrasts to smaller signs. MOLLY’s rounded silhouette softens the sharp treatment, while her recognisable face maintains a connection with the original character.

Trevor Andrew has also worked with Gucci on the brand’s artistic projects, including the Gucci DIY campaign. His interest in graphics on objects and clothing is evident in this interpretation of MOLLY: the costume contributes to the character rather than simply serving as a background for an image. The POP MART release brings this approach into a compact collectible form.

The black jacket has an asymmetric fastening, white graphic marks and red-and-yellow flames along its lower edge. Silver-coloured boots and tubes contrast with the dark costume. Lightning bolts decorate the eyes, while lettering and colourful graffiti appear on the closed visor. The open and closed helmet offer two different readings of the design.

Hong Kong artist Kenny Wong created MOLLY in 2006. In MEGA SPACE MOLLY, the character retains her personality within a new costume, while collaborations give each release its own artistic language. The 2.0 designation distinguishes this version from Trevor Andrew’s other work for POP MART.
