BE@RBRICK XLARGE × Sorayama Gold 1000%

BE@RBRICK XLARGE × Sorayama Gold 1000% is a collaboration between XLARGE and Hajime Sorayama on MEDICOM TOY’s large BE@RBRICK platform. The streetwear brand’s gorilla imagery is reworked through a gold-coloured, robotic surface.

Black seams divide the reflective body into mechanical-looking panels. The rounded head, ears and torso retain the familiar BE@RBRICK proportions, while facial and chest graphics connect the figure with the XLARGE gorilla. Sorayama contributes the futuristic interpretation; XLARGE provides the brand imagery, and MEDICOM TOY manufactures the object.

XLARGE’s official announcement dates the Japanese release of the Gold 1000% figure to 2 February 2019, following the wider collaboration shown at ComplexCon 2018. Production quantities stated for the collaboration’s signed skate decks and Robot Gorilla busts do not describe this BE@RBRICK.

Compared with Silver, Gold emphasises the reflected environment with a warmer surface treatment. The distinction is a colour version within the collaboration, rather than evidence that the figure is made from solid gold.
