More about Hajime Sorayama

From illustration to sculpture

Born in Ehime, Japan, in 1947, Sorayama works in illustration and sculpture. His practice explores the meeting of organic form and machinery. Hyperreal surfaces, highlights and articulated robotic joints have become defining elements of his work.

Robots and popular culture

Sorayama created the concept design for Sony’s AIBO robot, introduced in 1999. His imagery also appeared on Aerosmith’s Just Push Play album cover, and he has collaborated with Dior Men. Collectible objects bring this approach to familiar characters, transforming them into futuristic figures.

Mickey Mouse and BE@RBRICK

Mickey Mouse NOW AND FUTURE is a distinct sofubi edition presented in connection with the 2021 PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO exhibition. BE@RBRICK Future Mickey uses a different shape and scale. The works here are grouped by format, with photographs and specifications on each product page.

Comparing the editions

A chrome-like appearance or gold accents do not mean that different releases share the same materials or production method. Compare the shape, dimensions, finish and included items for each edition. Detail photographs can help distinguish one version from another.

Explore larger figures in BE@RBRICK 1000%, paired releases in 400% + 100% and standalone artist figures in Exclusive Art Toys. Prices and availability are shown on the listings.
