About Andy Warhol Marilyn Monroe #2
BE@RBRICK Andy Warhol Marilyn Monroe #2 is covered in repeated portraits of the actress in vivid contrasting colours. The pattern continues around the sides and back, rather than ending at a single frontal image. From a distance the bear reads as a rhythm of colour; closer inspection brings individual faces into focus.
For Andy Warhol, Marilyn Monroe was a subject through which cinema, celebrity and reproduction could meet. MEDICOM TOY released this second version of the motif within the BE@RBRICK series. The #2 identifies a design variation, not an individually numbered example in an edition. It is also a separate production collectible inspired by Warhol’s art, rather than an original Warhol silkscreen.
This version rewards a choice based on colour as much as on its famous subject. Its dense graphic surface adds energy to a shelf and creates a contrast with quieter chrome figures. Displaying it beside Elvis Presley shows how the same Pop Art idea of repetition can take on a different character through another celebrity.
