Another Green Cactus

Another Green Cactus is a green sculptural coat rack by Italian brand Gufram. Guido Drocco and Franco Mello conceived Cactus in 1972: instead of a restrained clothes stand, they proposed a large spiky silhouette made from a soft material. Another Green was presented in 2018. It preserves the original idea while making green the object’s principal accent.

Form, material and concept

From a distance it resembles an enlarged plant; close up, a dense rhythm of raised nodes emerges. Material creates a contrast: the surface looks spiky, but its core is flexible polyurethane. Four branches allow Cactus to function as a coat rack, though the form remains expressive without that use.

Collecting and interior display

Green Cactus suits a space needing one recognisable object: beside an entrance, near a seating area or within a contemporary-design collection. For a collector, its appeal connects with radical-design history and Drocco/Mello’s authorship. It also makes an unusual gift for someone interested in objects between art and function.
