About Sponge Balls
Sponge Balls is a collectible vinyl figure by Hello Abiebi with a rainbow transition from warm orange to blue. The artist relocates a familiar cartoon character’s eyes to the genital area, leaving empty sockets on the face. A broad smile and hands on hips heighten the absurdity of the scene.
Hello Abiebi’s visual humour
Hello Abiebi is an artist from Jakarta, Indonesia. This work changes the familiar arrangement of a character’s features: a recognisable silhouette becomes the basis of a provocative visual joke. It is a parodic reinterpretation rather than a conventional SpongeBob figure.
