Rock the Universe

THE MONSTERS LABUBU Rock the Universe is a POP MART vinyl plush doll from the Big into Energy series, based on Kasing Lung’s character. Long multicoloured fur defines its appearance, with yellow, orange, mint and blue areas flowing into one another around the pale face. The manufacturer lists PVC, polyester, ABS, acrylic, zinc alloy and copper.

The rainbow palette continues in the large eyes, ensuring the face remains distinct amid the fluffy texture. Long ears and a toothy smile retain LABUBU’s characteristic features, while the silhouette becomes softer and fuller. A pale beaded necklace with a shiny heart-shaped pendant provides a small counterpoint to the colourful design.

Rock the Universe has a more expressive mood than the character’s restrained costumed versions. Colour takes the place of clothing and becomes the main means of conveying energy. Promotional images reinforce this with stars, coloured lighting and surreal scenes. Smaller characters and scenery in those images provide series context and do not indicate that they are included in this offer.

Kasing Lung and THE MONSTERS

Artist and illustrator Kasing Lung created THE MONSTERS in 2015 through books inspired by Nordic fairy tales. LABUBU is one of its characters: behind a mischievous appearance is a kind-hearted creature whose attempts to help do not always go as planned. The contrast between sharp teeth and a gentle nature gives the character particular expressiveness. Learn about the artist in the official POP MART profile of Kasing Lung.
