About BAPE × Hajime Sorayama Camo Shark Gold
BE@RBRICK BAPE × Hajime Sorayama Camo Shark Gold takes Shark graphics into retrofuturism. Fine outlines replace conventional coloured camouflage patches, while the face and body suggest a mechanical construction. The gold finish unifies these details and changes with the surrounding light.
A BATHING APE supplies the recognisable Shark motif and camouflage vocabulary. Hajime Sorayama contributes the character of his robotic imagery, and MEDICOM TOY adapts both to the bear form. The gold and silver versions were released in July 2021.
Gold makes a warm reflective accent within a collection of Japanese design. Beside Silver, it shows how strongly a surface finish changes the same drawing. Diffused lighting is particularly useful here: a strong frontal highlight can conceal the fine printed lines that give the model its identity.
