About Javier Calleja Mickey Mouse
BE@RBRICK Javier Calleja Mickey Mouse changes the familiar character primarily through his gaze. Large expressive eyes create a slightly surprised mood, while red shorts, pale buttons and round ears retain Mickey’s identity. A small change to the face transforms the impression of the whole figure.
Javier Calleja is a Spanish artist whose visual language gives particular importance to eyes, expression and the human character of his figures. This collaboration combines his interpretation with Disney’s character and MEDICOM TOY’s platform. The pair was introduced as a 2G Exclusive for November 2021.
This version belongs in a collection of designer interpretations of Mickey Mouse. Beside fragmentdesign, it shows how identity can change through the face rather than the palette. An eye-level display is particularly rewarding: the defining detail is the gaze rather than a logo or finish.
