About KANSAI YAMAMOTO Tokyo Pop
BE@RBRICK KANSAI YAMAMOTO Tokyo Pop differs through costume silhouette as well as print. A broad black form with contour lines surrounds the body, while red graphics continue across the head and lower details. The result resembles a small stage object.
Kansai Yamamoto created Tokyo Pop in 1971, and the costume became associated with David Bowie’s stage image. MEDICOM TOY explains that this BE@RBRICK was developed from a replica held by Kansai Yamamoto’s office. The model was presented for MEDICOM TOY EXHIBITION 2024 with a July release.
It connects fashion history, music and designer toys. A little space from neighbouring figures lets the broad costume remain fully visible. Compared with a standard Shark, it demonstrates how clothing can change not just graphics but the outer shape of BE@RBRICK.
